Epic Multi-Day Camps and Expeditions
Each term includes a multi-day camp or expedition where students test their skills, grow their independence, and make lifelong memories in breath taking environments.
What’s It All About?
The Experience is Everything!
This course is designed to combine the best of both worlds: classroom-based learning and adventurous outdoor practice.
Plan, Prepare, and Execute Adventures
Students learn essential outdoor skills in the classroom—like navigation, risk assessment, and trip planning—and then take those lessons into the field. From camping under the stars to exploring caves and rivers, every skill is put to the test in real-world scenarios.
A Wide Range of Activities
Your child will experience everything from scrambling, mountaineering, rock-climbing, navigation, gorge walking, coasteering, sea kayaking, canoeing, bushcraft and underground exploration in the slate mines of North Wales.
Leadership and Teamwork
Group activities encourage students to step up, communicate effectively, and support one another, fostering lifelong skills like resilience, decision-making, and problem-solving.
Why Choose This Course?
Blended Learning Approach
At school you will undertake 6-7 classroom lessons per 2-week timetable. These theory lessons allow you to plan amazing practical experiences that cover a whole range of outdoor activities.
Skills for Life
From leadership and teamwork to resilience and decision-making, you’ll develop skills that go far beyond the outdoors. These are the qualities that will help you shine in school, work, and life.
Fun and Challenging Activities
Each day brings new and exciting challenges. You’ll work with your peers to overcome obstacles, push your limits, and celebrate your successes—all while having an amazing time outdoors.
Practical and Educational
You’ll learn valuable outdoor skills, including navigation, first aid, risk assessment, and environmental awareness, all while earning a nationally recognised qualification.
Connect with Nature
Explore forests, mountains, rivers and coastlines as you gain a deeper appreciation for the natural world. This course is all about adventure and discovery, helping you feel more confident and connected to your environment.
Camps and Expeditions
You will undertake 3 multi day camps in Year 10 which provide the base of skills to undertake 3 multi day expeditions in Year 11! These camps provide a breadth of novel activities, while also working to deepen existing skills. The expeditions are student led and involve camping while moving in a self-sustainable fashion through amazing natural environments.
