Pre-Prep: A Nurturing Foundation for Early Years (4-7 years)
At Myddelton College, our Pre-Prep program is guided by the Early Years Outcomes Framework, ensuring that every child:
· Feels safe and valued: A warm, supportive environment where children thrive.
· Builds resilience: Encouraged to be capable, confident, and adaptable.
· Develops healthily: Fostering physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
· Learns and grows: Inspired by curiosity and a love of learning.
Our approach is enriched by Montessori principles of grace and courtesy, helping children develop social and emotional skills, while child-led learning encourages independence and exploration. We nurture their understanding and appreciation of the world around them, creating a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
Lower Prep: Building Confidence Through Experiential Learning (7-9 years)
The Lower Prep phase emphasizes holistic development, blending academic growth with strong extracurricular opportunities. Through experiential learning, pupils engage in hands-on activities and real-world experiences that spark creativity and critical thinking.
Students tackle smaller projects and tasks that promote teamwork, problem-solving, and a sense of accomplishment, preparing them for the challenges of Upper Prep and beyond.
Upper Prep: Preparing for the Future (9-11 years)
Our Upper Prep curriculum embraces a range of pedagogical approaches, combining child-led exploration, instructor-led guidance, and experiential learning to suit diverse learning styles.
We focus on learning transfer, equipping students with the skills and mindset to excel as they transition into the Senior School.
Core elements include:
· Forest School-style principles, fostering independence, resilience, and a connection with nature.
· Child-led initiatives that empower pupils to take ownership of their learning journey.
At every stage, we aim to inspire confident, capable, and well-rounded individuals ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
