When the traditional school day ends here at Myddelton College, the learning does not stop. Our carefully planned range of activities and clubs enable students to further nurture their passions and interests outside of the classroom. Prep time takes place daily and this is a valuable opportunity for student to collaborate on their academic projects and get extra help from their teachers, as well as develop their independent study skills.
Aside from the wealth of sporting clubs and societies students can attend choir, dance and drama, gardening, mindfulness and wellbeing activities. There is an option to attend academic tutorials in each Key Stage. Students are always encouraged to take a lead in the development of additional clubs and societies for the future.
Weekend activities form an important part of college life, celebrating achievement and providing time for the students to relax. Weekends have a stress-free feel, with time to catch up with family and friends back home as well as exciting activities and trips. The weekend activity programme is available to both boarders and day students.
The student voice plays a significant role in the planning of trips and activities. We encourage feedback from students about activities and trips and welcome suggestions for future trips. For example students could request a trip to the local cinema, ice skating or go-karting or even simply a walk into the town of Denbigh to visit the local shops and attractions.
Our staff have the specialist knowledge, personal experience and creativity to ensure all students benefit from the manifold benefits of regular participation in sport. As a result, pupils gain a sense of genuine pride, self-worth, happiness and achievement they will carry on to university and beyond.
The sport curriculum consists of a variety of activities such as Football, Rugby, Netball, Gymnastics, Basketball, Hockey, Fitness, Badminton, Tennis, Rounders and Athletics and all students have the opportunity to represent the College in both friendly and competitive sporting fixtures. Our 37 acre campus has a full size football pitch, rugby pitch, 4 tennis courts and a large indoor sports hall and gym area. Our students improve their physical health, as well as their mental wellbeing (increasing self-esteem and emotional wellbeing). Students who are physically active are happier, more resilient and more trusting of their peers.
